Elijah Prophet – New Chapter Of My Life
After picking up the album “New Chapter of My Life”, by singer and song writer Elijah Prophet, I quickly gave it a listen and immersed myself into the rhythms and the lyrics seeking to capture the essence of what his music is all about. The name Elijah Prophet carries a lot of responsibility due to its biblical history and I can say that with this album this artist lives up to his name with a outpouring of conscious vibes.

Perhaps the mentoring by Garnet Silk and Uton Green can be attributed to the powerful voice emanating over some strong reggae beats with his latest achievement, “New Chapter Of My Life”.
Six songs on the album really hit home, capturing my attention right away as I gave them a listen. The selection “In Love with Jah” and it dub counterpart “In Dub With Jah” are my favorite thus far in that order. The hypnotizing effects of the rhythms and beats coupled with the lyrics has a relaxing and soothing effect on anyone listening.
The first cut on the album, “Rivers of Babylon” talks about being a true rastaman and hits the right note with a quick intro followed by more fyah. “Mama Bawling’ features some horns and backup vocals describing the emotional state of mothers around the world and “Rejoice” gives thanks to the most high for the blessings bestowed upon us.
“Musical Healing” is an upbeat song with horns in the background describing the positve effects of this reggae music. The song “Ganga Plantation” is my second favorite on this album, the title speaks for itself and describes the quality of herb enjoyed by Rasta in the area of Westmoreland, Jamaica.
I would give this album a rating of 8 on a scale of 1 to 10.
