Vanessa Quai – Light It Up
Created to address what is happening in the world today. Decoding the system of babylon that is hijacking the lives of Gods people across the face of the earth today is the purpose behind this piece of work.
Light It Up by Vanessa Quai left such an impression that I thought I should share my thoughts due to the fact that it has conscious and uplifting vibrations coming at you. The opening song on the album captures the essence of the whole album with its call for spiritual and moral upliftment in the world.
“Light It Up”
The first track “Light It Up” featuring John Baptist Holi says it all, over a catchy upbeat reggae rhythm. The song is about lighting the spark that dwells inside all of us and letting our inner light shine. Yes I, “Life Is Good” and wonderful as one enjoys the tunes on this album.
“Merdela (Free West Papua)“
Another track on the album that caught my attention was “Merdela (Free West Papua)” which address the struggle of West Papua a country in waiting. Before the invasion of 1963, the indigenous West Papuans were 98% of the population. West Papuans represent only 48% of the population with 500,000 unaccounted deaths and disappearances. Their minerals, rain forests and resources have been ruthlessly exploited.
Rize of the Morning Star of which Vanessa Quai is a part of, utilizes music as weapon. This weapon of music is being used to fight oppression and bring hope to all West Papuans in West Papua.
Vanessa’s music has been described as “a blend of island, reggae, dance and hip-hop beats. She says the release of this album (which is full of sensational reggae flavor) was created to address what is happening in the world today. Decoding the system of babylon that is hijacking the lives of Gods people across the face of the earth today is the purpose behind this piece of work.
